Biography

Martha Oceguera studied viola performance at the University of Alabama under Spencer Martin and Georgia State University under Tania Maxwell Clements.

Martha served as Principal Violist for the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra for many years starting in 2007 and has performed with other ensembles such as the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra Augusta, and the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.  She also toured the United States with the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra, performing film music favorites such as those by John Williams. For over 10 years, she was also the string quartet Music Director for Anime Weekend Atlanta, the southeast's largest Japanese animation convention, which has hosted a formal ball since 2004.

Martha is passionate about music teaching in addition to performing.  She established her string studio in 2015 after years of substituting for other teachers and receiving great feedback from parents.  Martha believes that beauty lies in the details and absolutely loves to inspire players to grow their inner artist for a lifetime of music making and story-telling appreciation.

Martha is a founding member of Cantos y Cuentos, an Atlanta-based chamber ensemble that mixes new music with the avant-garde art.
